PRIDE OF AFRICA MONTH 2026: A MONTH OF CONNECTION, CULTURE AND CELEBRATION

Pride of Africa welcomes October with a programme bringing the LGBTQ+ community and its allies together through celebration, dialogue, fashion and storytelling. From rooftop cocktails to an inner city party, an empowerment summit and an evening of queer creative expression at the Queer Met, Pride of Africa Month 2026 invites our community to connect, be visible and celebrate belonging.

3 October | Pride of Africa × Rush: Pride Month Kickoff

The journey begins on 3 October at 18:00 with Pride of Africa’s collaboration with Rush, welcoming Pride Month with cocktails on the roof at Level 3.

Designed as a feel-good, safe space, the opening celebration brings the community together to reconnect, make new connections and set the tone for the month ahead. It is an invitation to arrive as you are and begin Pride of Africa Month 2026 in good company.

10 October | SECRT Venue: The All-White Party

The ever-popular SCRT Venue follows on 10 October, taking the celebration into Johannesburg’s inner city at Carvo Lounge.

From 12:00 until late, everyone’s favourite all-white party returns with an invitation to dress up, show up and celebrate together. This edition brings queer joy and visibility into the heart of the city, creating another opportunity for community connection throughout Pride Month.

16 October | Pride of Africa Empowerment Summit

On 16 October, the Pride of Africa Empowerment Summit creates space for conversations about the lives, ambitions and opportunities of LGBTQ+ people, with a particular focus on young people.

The summit centres empowerment through dialogue, shared experience and connection. It provides a platform to explore identity, inclusion and leadership, alongside the barriers that affect meaningful participation in society and the workplace.

At its heart is a practical ambition: to encourage participants to recognise their potential, strengthen their voices and build connections that extend beyond Pride Month.

24 October | The Queer Met: African Archives

The Queer Met returns on 24 October under its 2026 theme, African Archives, bringing together African creativity, queer expression and the stories that connect our community.

A premium networking occasion for influencers, creatives and community leaders, the evening will pair a tasting menu with a programme celebrating fashion, performance and storytelling.

This year’s Queer Met will include a runway exhibition by emerging designers, showcasing the best of fashion from the queer community. A songstress and a poet will add their voices to the evening, telling our stories through music and spoken word.

Queer Met invites guests to celebrate the talent, experiences and cultural expression our community carries forward.

31 October | Pride of Africa Day: Johannesburg Pride March

A detailed press release will follow for Pride of Africa Day and the Johannesburg Pride March on 31 October 2026, co-hosted by the City of Joburg, in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, BCG, Wilson, Google, Ernst & Young and Baker McKenzie, together with our beverage partner, Heineken.
