A new album arriving on 30 October and two nights at Teatro Montecasino bring together three decades of music, personal growth and faith.
Thirty years into a career woven into the soundtrack of South African life, Kabelo “Bouga Luv” Mabalane is opening a new chapter. His forthcoming album, For King and Country, arrives on 30 October 2026, ahead of an exclusive two-night live experience presented in partnership with Kaya 959 at Teatro Montecasino on 15 and 16 December 2026.
Marking both his 50th birthday milestone and three decades in music, the project brings Kabelo’s history and present-day purpose into the same conversation. It is a celebration of the artist audiences have grown up with, and an introduction to the music he is making today.
A New Sound Rooted in Faith and Street CultureOn For King and Country, Kabelo introduces a sound he calls “Street Psalms”, a “phume jardini” expression of faith rooted in street culture. It reflects the meeting of his creative instincts, spiritual journey and lived experience.“As for the new sound, it’s been crafted differently. It carries a certain wisdom that comes from where creativity, spirituality and art meet. So, it hits different,” says Kabelo.
That approach places authenticity at the heart of this next chapter.“Making music from an authentic place changes everything. When the music comes from somewhere real, people can feel it.”For longtime followers and new listeners alike, the album offers an opportunity to connect with an artist whose music continues to evolve alongside his life.
Three Decades of Music, Reimagined for the StageThe December performances will bring Kabelo’s career-defining hits and music from For King and Country to Teatro Montecasino, backed by a 16-piece music ensemble.
With strings, a choral infusion and special surprises, the shows will create space for celebration, reflection and the shared memories that connect an artist to his audience.Across two evenings, Kabelo will honour the journey, the people who have travelled it with him and the possibilities ahead.
The second performance falls on South Africa’s Day of Reconciliation, adding resonance to an experience centred on bringing generations together.Kaya 959 Celebrates an Enduring ConnectionFor Kaya 959, the partnership recognises Kabelo’s cultural contribution and the relationship he has built with audiences over time.“Kabelo’s journey is woven into the soundtrack of South African life.
His 30 years in music speak to the power of staying curious, evolving with your audience and continuing to create work that means something,” says Tumi Rabanye, Head of Marketing at Kaya 959.“This exclusive live experience gives us the opportunity to celebrate Kabelo’s legacy while making room for the next chapter, with our audience right there in the moment.
