American singer-songwriter and multidisciplinary artist Megan Kashat released her new EP, Sailor Blues, through Soul Candi Records on Friday 25 September 2026. The project marks her first release with the South African label and opens an exciting new connection between her international artistic journey and the country’s rich house music scene.
Built around love, loss and the journey back to oneself, Sailor Blues is a deeply personal body of work shaped by real experiences and moments of reflection. Across the EP, Megan turns a difficult chapter into music that is both vulnerable and uplifting, exploring truth, heartbreak and healing through expressive songwriting and melody.
The release brings Megan together with South African collaborators Ed-Ward, Cornelius SA, France Deep and Regalo Joints, creating a meeting point between her distinct artistic perspective and the sounds of South African house music.

ABOUT MEGAN KASHAT
Born and raised in Detroit to Iraqi parents, Megan’s path into music began through movement. She left Detroit at 16 to travel internationally as a professional dancer, later performing alongside artists including Mariah Carey and Charlie Wilson, while appearing at the Grammy Awards, Steve Harvey Hoodie Awards, Wendy Williams Show, and spending a season as an NBA dancer.
She spent a summer working closely with Steve Aoki in Ibiza, which drew her more deeply into electronic music. After exploring different corners of dance music, she found a creative home in Afro-house. Today, the Casablanca and London-based artist brings together music, movement, fashion, painting and visual storytelling in work that moves freely beyond genre.
In addition to becoming a viral sensation in Morocco, her recording career has generated more than 20 million streams and over 300 chart positions, alongside a publishing deal with Notting Hill Music and a silver place in the World Cup Dance Championship in 2007.
