Widely celebrated singer-songwriter and performer J’Something joins forces with acclaimed Eswatini-born electronic music creator !Sooks for a powerful new interpretation of one of house music’s most treasured records, Bring On The Night.
The single officially released via the acclaimed Stay True Sounds imprint on Friday, 7 August 2026, and reimagines the iconic deep house anthem with fresh emotion, contemporary production and J’Something’s unmistakable vocal prowess. The record has already attracted early support from respected tastemakers including Billboard Africa, DJ Fresh, Kaya FM, and YFM among others.
Originally written by Sting, Bring On The Night became a defining record within South Africa’s deep house culture following Cloudkickers’ celebrated version and Rocco Rodamaal’s legendary TroDeep Remix. Nearly two decades later, J’Something and !Sooks honour that legacy while introducing the song to a new generation of listeners.
When !Sooks first produced an instrumental reinterpretation of Bring On The Night, the record quickly gained traction among some of South Africa’s most respected selectors. Long before there were plans for an official release, it had already become a fixture in DJ sets across the country.
One question soon followed:
“What if this version had a voice?”
The answer was J’Something.
Widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most distinctive voices, the multi-award-winning artist has spent more than fifteen years shaping the soundtrack of contemporary African music through Mi Casa while simultaneously building an acclaimed solo catalogue. His collaborations have consistently transcended genre, allowing his unmistakable voice to seamlessly bridge soul, house, jazz, Afro-pop and electronic music.
Rather than attempting to recreate one of house music’s most cherished recordings, !Sooks and J’Something approached the song with restraint and reverence. J’Something delivers an emotive new vocal performance that honours the soul of the original while introducing a fresh perspective for today’s listeners. Paired with !Sooks’ refined and atmospheric production, the result is a record that bridges nostalgia with modern dance music – equally at home on festival stages, radio playlists and late-night dancefloors.
