Sony Music Africa Signs Ms. Gideon as their First Ever Namibian Artist

Sony Music Africa is proud to announce the signing of Ms. Gideon (born Panduleni Gideon) through a partnership with ERA Music Group. This marks an historic moment as she becomes the first recording artist from Namibia to join the Sony Global Music Company’s roster. At only 20 years old, the soulful singer‑songwriter from Windhoek represents one of Southern Africa’s most promising new voices and a rising force in contemporary African music.

With a sound rooted in soul, Afrobeats, and rich African influences, Ms. Gideon has quickly gained recognition for her warm vocal tone, emotive songwriting, and empowering message—particularly for young African girls. Her authenticity and expressive musicality have positioned her as one of Namibia’s fastest‑rising stars and a fresh, compelling storyteller for today’s generation.

Born in 2005, Ms. Gideon discovered her voice in school choirs and began sharing covers online, where her natural talent captured early attention. She entered the continental spotlight in 2024 after winning the Next Narrative Africa talent competition, a milestone that led to a landmark performance on the legendary stage of the Apollo Theater in New York, sharing the bill with celebrated African artists such as Adekunle Gold and Patoranking.

Her rise accelerated further with the release of her breakout single “Home”, which made Namibian music history after becoming the fastest song from Namibia to reach 1 million views on YouTube. This achievement solidified her status as the country’s newest breakout artist, with growing traction across YouTube, social media, and regional digital platforms.

With her emotionally grounded approach to music, pride in her roots, and commitment to spreading positivity, Ms. Gideon embodies the vibrancy of a new generation of Namibian artists poised for the world stage. Her signing marks a major moment for both the Namibian music industry and Sony Music Africa’s continued expansion into diverse, future‑focused African talent. She is set to release her first single titled Tiki Tak Tak on the 27th of February 2026.

Speaking on her signing, Ms. Gideon shares:

“My dream has always been to represent Namibia with pride and show the world what young African voices can do. Joining Sony Music Africa is a huge moment—not just for me, but for every young girl back home who dreams boldly. I’m ready to make music that uplifts my people and moves the continent forward.”

Sony Music Africa also expresses excitement at welcoming her to the roster, noting her distinct artistry and the cultural importance of amplifying new voices from emerging Southern African markets.
